West Virginia State University Scholarships

Welcome to the West Virginia State University scholarship website! 

Our student-centered online scholarship portal is a “one-stop shop” to scholarship opportunities for current and prospective students to view all scholarships for which they are eligible.  We have centralized our scholarships into a single location for students to easily access and apply for scholarship opportunities.
 
Our scholarships is awarded on the basis on academic merit, financial need, leadership, extracurricular activities, community service or any combination of these items.  At this site, you will find the most comprehensive list of scholarship opportunities and other resource information to help you fund your education.
 

In order to be eligible for WVSU Foundation Scholarships you must:

  • Have submitted a FAFSA and be completely packaged for the 2020-2021 year
  • Not be registered as a fully online student, if you are unsure of how you are registered please contact me and I will look it up.  
  • Be enrolled in classes for the Fall semester, if you are a returning student
  • Be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more per semester

Your user name is your WVSU email without “@” just your personal credentials of the email.

Your password for the portal is the same as your WVSU email password.

West Virginia State University is pleased to announce a new scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year, WVSU 1890 Scholarship.  The general application submitted into the Scholarship Portal (the second tab) will generate an apply to form to answer specific questions in order to qualify for the WVSU 1890 scholarship.

  Freshman Scholarships

West Virginia State University is proud to offer merit, competitive and need-based scholarships to freshman. Merit scholarships, based on high school GPA and ACT, are awarded at the time of admission. In addition to merit academic scholarships awarded through the admissions process, the West Virginia State University Foundation offers scholarships gifted by alumni, businesses, friends and foundations to incoming, current, and graduate students. Many of these scholarships are available through
 
Merit scholarships are easy — just apply and be admitted. A separate application is not required. Newly admitted freshman who are U.S. citizen, full-time (12 or more hours), degree seeking, and meet academic qualifications are awarded merit scholarships on a first-applied, first-awarded basis until funds are fully committed. Apply early to be considered for one of these freshman merit scholarships! All eligible students but be fully admitted by June 1, 2019 to receive the scholarship.

*ACT score and GPA are based on the official numbers reported by the high school at the time of admission. Students who meet the qualifications and apply for admission while funds are available will be notified by letter.
  
 

Transfer Student Scholarships

West Virginia State University is proud to offer merit, competitive and need-based scholarships to freshman. What is a General Application?
  • Students will complete one general online application, which includes academic, extracurricular, and community service information and space for a brief biography.
  • Upon submission of your general application thru the online portal, the form will trigger access to basic information from your Banner student profile and automatically match you with potential scholarship opportunities 

What is an Apply-To Scholarships?
  • Upon submission of your general application if applicable, apply for specific scholarships
